Chihiro and I just returned from a little trip to Yellowstone National Park to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. Yep, the big 5!
It was our first trip to America's first National Park (1872), and my first time experiencing on a grand scale our planet in a state of flux. As you'll see from the pictures (link below), Yellowstone's geysers, hot springs, fumaroles, and mudpots are evidence that our planet is not static, but rather dynamic and full of surprises. I was just in amazement at the sheer numbers of heat releasing vents (10,000 plus!) present throughout the park.
Here's a link to some pics from the trip:

Also, here's a link to a little video I shot seeing Old Faithful blow for the first time:

Enjoy!
Before I forget, in mid-April, Chihiro's parents flew over from Japan and spent some time with us here in Wyoming. We had a great time! Took a trip down to Arches National Park in Southern Utah and up into Northwestern Wyoming to Jackson and the Tetons. Here's a link to pics from those two trips:

Enjoy!
In terms of other happenings...
My sis, Erich, and Miles are heading down to Austin, TX from Chicago, IL. Erich got a job at a public policy firm there. My sis will continue with her law practice it looks like once they get there. We wish them all the best.
Chihiro and I are hoping to get back to South Carolina at the end of the summer to see my folks.
My job has recently instituted mandatory overtime as we have lost a considerable number of soil scientists to promotions and laterals to other states in the past few months. Any environmental scientists out there interested in mapping soils in WY should drop me a line.
Chihiro's job has her going to conferences and to neighboring cities to attract clients to utilize GIS technologies.
A special thanks to all our armed services personnel here and abroad who defend this country and ultimately provide the means to enjoy the freedoms we have today. Thank you with all sincerity.
Happy Memorial Day,
Drew
