Chihiro and I went to Austin, TX over Christmas to visit with Mom and Dad, Melissa, Erich, and Miles. Mom and Dad flew over from South Carolina, while we took the puddle jumper from Rock Springs to Denver to Austin. Actually wasn't too bad of a flight at all. I had heard some horror stories of the winds and violent drops during flight, but we had a pretty smooth ride back and forth. All in all it was a great time, and we got to soak up some really mild winter days (65° F) there in the State Capitol. One of the highlights was going to The Salt Lick, a favorite of Melissa and Erich and Miles, west of town on Christmas Eve. Really good Texas style BBQ. Erich, Melissa, Mom, and I opted for the family style, all you can eat varieties of BBQ, while Dad and Chihiro went for the special plates. It was all very good. Christmas was pretty kicked back with Melissa, Erich, Chihiro, and I fixing tofurkey dinner for Mom and Dad. Had never had this faux turkey concoction, but I have to say it was pretty good stuff.
We also had a chance to check out the flagship Whole Foods store in downtown Austin. Really amazing place full of bakery items, cheeses, meats, beers, gelato (Chihiro loves gelato!), you name it from all over the world. Good times!
The return trip to Rock Springs took a while. Got stranded in the Denver airport for a few days due to weather. The airlines put us up in a good hotel though so we didn't have to sleep in those oh so not comfortable vinyl chairs.
Down side has been being sick since returning. I'm nursing quite the cough and Chihiro's none too much better. Been taking lots of cough medicine and Vitamin C and hoping for the best.

P.S. In case you were wondering, that's Chihiro playing Melissa and Erich's Xbox at their house Christmas day. Love the "Don't bother me, I'm trying to probe a dead body for first aid kits in 'Bioshock'". Priceless. Slink, Melissa and Erich's dog, obviously has better things to do like napping ;)

Man... You put up a horrible picture of mine on your blog! Look at my shinny forehead. It is so ugly and I look so evil. Well - I was playing the computer game and was killing people. No wonder I looked evil : )
